This week, I'm pleased to introduce you to an amazingly gifted writer, Barbara Joan Scott.

Barbara Joan Scott has had the great good fortune to be able to devote most of her adult working life to creative writing, as an author, editor, and teacher. Her first book, The Quick, won the City of Calgary W. O. Mitchell Book Prize, and the WGA Howard O’Hagan Award for Best Collection of Short Fiction, and was shortlisted for the WGA Henry Kreisel Award for Best First Book. In 2015 she received the Lois Hole Award for Editorial Excellence and in 2021 her essay “Black Diamond” won the WGA’s Jon Whyte Award.

Lori McNulty: On Writing as “An Honest Salvation”

This is the the fourth instalment in a new interview series on writing, profiling women writers who’ve written and published books while also working, parenting, volunteering, caring for family, attending school, and ALL OF THE THINGS.

For this week's interview, I'm pleased to introduce you to Lori McNulty.

Lori McNulty is a Vancouver-based author, photographer, and digital storyteller. Her book, Life on Mars, was short-listed for the 2017 Danuta Gleed Literary Award which recognizes the best debut short fiction collection by a Canadian author.

She was short-listed for the 2014 Journey prize and a finalist again in 2015. Her non-fiction appears in several anthologies including Body & Soul: Stories for Skeptics and seekers, as well as The Globe & Mail. Both her fiction and non-fiction have been long-list finalists for the CBC Canada Writes Prizes.

Interview with Indie Author Emma Dhesi: I am a Finisher

This is another instalment in a new interview series on writing, profiling women writers who’ve written and published books while also working, parenting, volunteering, caring for family, attending school, and ALL OF THE THINGS.

This week, I'm pleased to introduce you to my friend, Scottish Indie author Emma Dhesi.

Emma is a book coach and the author of The Day She Came Home, a contemporary women's novel, as well as the novels Belonging and More Than Enough -- all of which are available on Kindle. Now an accomplished Indie author, Emma knew she wanted to be a writer when she was just 8 years old. Emma lives in Edinburgh, Scotland, with her family and is the host of the podcast Turning Readers Into Writers.
